Don't take our word
for it.
The blue light glasses industry has a credibility problem. Brands advertise blocking up to 100% of blue light, yet independent research has repeatedly found real gaps between what a lens claims to filter and what it actually delivers. Without published results, there's no way to know if a pair performs as promised.
We think trust should be earned, not claimed. Every Balterra lens undergoes independent laboratory testing, with the results published here for complete transparency. No vague promises. Just measurable, independently verified performance.
What's below is that testing, lens by lens, figure by figure.

Engineered from the ground up by us.
Confirmed by a NATA Accredited Lab.
Before we built anything, we tested more than fifty lenses already on the market, including from some of the best manufacturers in the industry. Only a handful came close to what we considered acceptable, and even those varied from batch to batch. That inconsistency told us the problem wasn't a bad batch, it was the category, so we developed our own proprietary tint formulation instead of adapting something that already existed.
From that tint, three lenses were born: Night+ for the most complete circadian protection we could engineer, Night for evening wind down without losing visibility, and Daytime for screens and artificial light during the day. Each one was tested on both our manufacturer's equipment and our own, and matched our engineering targets.
That told us the lenses performed as designed. It didn't tell you that, which is why we sent physical samples to APR Laboratory, accredited by NATA to AS/NZS 1067:2016, for independent verification. Where their report states a figure directly, we quote it exactly. Where it reports pass or fail rather than a number, we cross-verified our reading against their published spectral data. Two labs, two instruments, the same lens.
The most advanced circadian lens.
Blue + Green + Intensity
Most blue light glasses stop at blue light. Night+ doesn't.
In independent testing, Night+ blocks 99.9% of blue light and 99.9% of green light, up to 570 nanometres, the second wavelength range shown to suppress melatonin production.
Night+ also reduces total light transmission to around 13%, blocking roughly 87% of all light that reaches your eyes, the deepest tint in the range. Blue and green wavelength filtering handle two of the three things that can suppress melatonin. The third is intensity, how much light reaches your eyes at all, and cutting that helps minimise its melanopic impact.
Recommended two hours before bed.
For winding down.
Protection with productivity in mind.
Screens don't stop at sunset. Neither does the light keeping your body from settling into evening.
Night filters up to 95% of blue light and around 73% of green light, up to 570 nanometres, enough to soften the wavelengths that keep you wired without going as far as Night+.
At around 51% visual light transmittance, the room stays visible. Wind down without losing the ability to read, cook, or move around comfortably.
Recommended from sundown.
Built for screens and artificial light.
Support not complete suppression.
Not all blue light needs to be blocked. During the day, it helps support alertness and your natural sleep-wake rhythm. The discomfort comes down to dose and exposure time: hours spent under the sharp peak of high energy blue light that screens and LED lighting put out, with no relief for your eyes.
Daytime filters 82% of high energy blue light, supporting focus and comfort through the day, without touching melatonin production. It does its job at your desk and stops there.
Recommended during screens and artificial light.
Nothing else.
NATA is Australia's national authority for accrediting testing laboratories. Accreditation means a lab's equipment, methods, and competence have been independently assessed against a recognised standard, not self-reported. APR Laboratory holds NATA accreditation number 15508, and tests to AS/NZS 1067:2016, the sunglasses safety standard used across the industry.
That's the standard behind every figure on this page. The reports above are unedited. Read them yourself, or take the summary.
Two labs. Two instruments. The same result.
A return to rhythm. A reconnection to your own biology. A rebalancing of the light you let in and when.
Your biology is worth the switch.
